Grounding / Earthing

Measure • Understand • Mitigate • Mend

Grounding or Earthing is becoming very popular because of the good results some are experiencing, however, others are having bad experiences . . . this page may help to explain why and what to do to be successful.

The thing about earthing/grounding is FIRST, before grounding YOU, you want to turn off, unplug or ground everything electrical around you (especially the circuits, wires in your walls) . . . or else you become the path of least resistance, for all the electric fields around you. You effectively make yourself part of the circuit. This could be why grounding does not work for some.

Our bodies are antennas and attract the EMF around us (the electric fields from the wires in our walls are the #1 source) so you do NOT want to become the conduit/ground for these fields.

MEASURE and UNDERSTAND - the BVK (Body Voltage Kit) lets you know what fields are there and their level. Then . . .

MITIGATE - REMOVE what you can (disconnect, unplug, the things that don’t need to be on). The paper shredder can be unplugged when not in use. REDUCE the fields you cannot remove. Things that have to stay on (especially during the day) move them away from you. The printer can be unplugged when not in use AND be on the other side of the room when it is. Computers and external hard drives should be grounded (3 prong plug) if 2 pin - use a grounding pad, let the grounding pad take the field so you don't. The wires in your home put out an electric field 6 - 8 feet into the room. At night your head is probably 12 inches from a wire in your wall. If you sleep with a grounding pad and do not turn that circuit off - that field flows through you to ground ALL NIGHT LONG.

MEND - Now we get to ground YOU. Watching the sunrise and sunset with your bare feet on the ground (grass/dirt) could be the #1 healthy thing to do. Our bodies are also capacitors, they hold electricity and earthing is the way to get rid of this electricity. Get away from electric fields, go to the beach (bare feet on wet sand), get outside in the garden (hands in the dirt, feet on the grass, rock, even concrete works but NOT asphalt). Outside, try not to wear insulated shoes (rubber and plastic soles that separate you from the ground).

What about grounding/earthing inside?  The beach is not an option for many. Getting out at all, is not easy for some. So what to do? Like most things in life there are at least two schools of thought here.

Bare feet on wet sand grounding/earthing

First “school” of thought

Having measured and removed/reduced all the electric fields you can, (grounded all the plugged in appliances, gadgets and gizmos) . . . you don't need to ground yourself during the day. AND, if you create an EMF sleep sanctuary in your bedroom by turning off all the circuits that affect you, so there are no electric fields . . . you (shouldn't) don't need to ground at night either. The EMFSafeSwitch is the only UL listed remote cut off for doing this safely.

The argument goes, you shouldn't ground inside because the ground in and around our homes can be "polluted", a source of dirty electricity. (Dirty electricity is harmonics of 60 Htz caused by the transformer to the house, inverters, dimmers, CFL bulbs, TV's etc. and also the ground itself). The ground wire in your home is joined to the house neutral in your circuit breaker box (at the bus) and these electrical “artifacts” can and often are on the ground wire in the home . . . hence, grounding in populated areas is not advised . . . go to the beach and/or hug a Redwood tree.

The Redwoods

Second "school" Of thought

Earthing/grounding is always good, all the time. The advantages of grounding out weigh any disadvantages.

YES, remove/reduce what you can and then ground. At night, I think everyone agrees, grounding to a clean ground brought in from the outside is better than the house/building ground for the stated reasons.

For those for whom that is not possible (living is an apartment, in the city etc.) what to do? You must ALWAYS check the ground you plug into to make sure the circuit is safe. Then, ensure as clean and safe ground as possible. One of the best ways to do this is with the EMFSafeSwitch “NP”. The “NP” disconnects the neutral and power on the circuits that affect your sleeping area so helps “clean up” the house ground.

You should still watch the sunrise and sunset with your feet on the ground and go to the beach as often as possible. Happy and safe grounding.

Earthing/Grounding Video

Earthing/Grounding does not remove electric fields It just makes you part of the circuit and can make things worse. This is where a Body Voltage Kit helps you see and hear the electric fields.

Grounding / Earthing

Our bodies are both antennas and capacitors that attract EMF and hold electricity. Reconnecting to the Earth often is good.

Leaving electrical circuits on and grounding still leaves them to have an effect on your body. One of these affects is to suppress your melatonin levels, which, affects your ability to get a good nights sleep. Turn EMF off at night . . . and then ground if you want to.
